TEHRAN – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has said that Saudi Arabia prevented Iran from sending humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.

He made the remarks in a phone conversation with Peter Maurer, the president of International Committee of the Red Cross, on Friday.

“Iran’s Red Crescent plane carrying medical aid and the treated Yemenis injured (in the war) was returned by intervention of Saudi fighters in Yemen’s sky in spite of the essential licenses,” he stated.

The Iranian official said it is necessary that the Red Crescent organization to take action to send aid to the Yemeni people.

Amir-Abdollahian went on to say that Iran is ready to treat the injured Yemenis in Iran or Yemen.
